New toy and frosty morning

I’m starting to move into the modern era. Believe it or not I’m writing this from my new iPod touch 5. So maybe it’ll be a little more convenient to make posts.

This morning has been the first hard frost morning. It’s frozen a few times but he frost hasn’t stayed around until this morning.

I’m going to try to be back

5 gallon bucket ~80% full of carrots

Well, I’ve been of this blog for some time now.  It has been one rough and busy summer.  Between work and relationships I’ve had little to no time for the garden, much less blogging.  The drought that we’ve been having wasn’t much of a motivator either.  We have had a bit of rain, so its gotten better, but we are still woefully under watered.  It was also the first hard frosts the last two nights.  So I decided I’d better get out there and get things in order.  I harvested all the carrots and what few peppers I could manage.  I also harvested a bunch of kale and collard greens.  I’m hoping those will keep growing for a couple of more weeks and I might get another harvest out of them.  The kale and collards were blanched and frozen ( sorry I forgot to take pics).  I’m still debating on what I should do with all the carrots though.  I harvested 14lbs total.  That was from a single 8 foot row.  I’ll probably cut them up, blanch and then freeze.  They’re great for soups and stocks.

On another note, I think I’m going to open up what I write about and bit.  It might help me keep a more regular schedule of blogging, though some of the posts may start to be about things other than gardening.  I don’t know maybe.
